Don Quixote in bronze and oil.

Cervantes' knight is one of Ernő Tóth's lifelong subjects: thin, heroic and a little absurd — exactly the kind of figure his grotesque, fairy-tale world is built from.

Don Quixote and the windmills — oil painting by Ernő Tóth

In the painting, the knight charges the windmills under a burning yellow sky while Sancho Panza tumbles through the air. In bronze, Tóth stretches the same figure into his signature stick-thin silhouette — lance raised, Rocinante's ribs showing, every gesture bordering on caricature.

The sculptures below range from small table bronzes to a life-size Don Quixote standing in a garden. Each piece is cast in bronze, hand-signed and sold directly from the artist's studio in Érd, near Budapest.
