Mozart and Salieri (Charivari)

Mozart at the keyboard is interrupted by a cat leaping onto the piano. The scene grew from the artist's own experience: playing Eine kleine Nachtmusik one tired evening, he was so startled by a cat springing onto the instrument that he nearly fell off his chair. He imagined the same chaos befalling Mozart and began sketching this humorous bronze at once.
